When in doubt, turn to God. For most that is easier said than done. Typically, when we need guidance, advice, or just someone to vent to, we turn to social media, a friend, a family member or in some cases, negative releases like alcohol and drugs.
Why is it so hard for us to turn to God in our times of need?
For me personally, I feel guilty for asking for God's help. I am already so blessed in everything God has given me that I feel He should be spending His time helping those who really need it. My mundane day-to-day trials and tribulations are trivial compared to those suffering from poverty, violence, famine and disease.
Yet, His message in scripture that we receive through the readings each week is that God wants us to go to Him. He wants us to choose Him first when we need guidance and advice. He wants us to choose Him to vent our frustrations to. He wants us to choose Him over everyone and everything else.
God created each one of us. He knows us better than anyone else in this world--even better than we know ourselves. If anyone can help us sort out our daily trials, it's God.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight."
