“He said to him the third time, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love me?’ Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, ‘Do you love me?’ and he said to him, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.'” ~ Jn 21:17
.
How many times does Jesus ask each one of us Christians the question “Do you Love me?” How many times do we even ask that very same question to someone we love? In the Gospel Jesus asked Peter 3 times “Do you love me?” and Jesus than said “Feed my sheep.” We can only imagine how St. Peter must have felt being asked this question by our Lord. The sorrow, the pain, and shame he must have felt…and wondering where he had failed in loving Him?
How do we feel when this question is being asked to us by Jesus or by our loved ones? We need to ask Jesus “Where have I failed?” He might say “Take a look at your loved ones, your spouse, your children, your family and your neighbors (the marginalized, the suffering, the homeless, the poor, the rich, the Unborn, the abortion doctors and nurses, the elderly, the handicapped, the sick, the unwanted, the abortion minded people, our priests, our pastors, our Bishops, the list goes on..).”
How are we feeding them Jesus’ love? Are we giving them Love from our hearts like Jesus? Can they say they feel Jesus Love through us? Do we need to pray more and ask Jesus to help us Love Him better by loving them better? DO YOU love me? Do you LOVE me? Do you love me? This is the powerful question Jesus is asking us. And our Answer as Christians, and Pro-Lifers should be…. we pick up our Cross and Go Follow Him. Are we willing to Love Jesus that much?
